A history of the company goes back to the year 1989, when Ing. Štefan Výbošťok Snr. established the PILEX company, dealing with processing of softwood round timber, sawn wood and foreign trading with sawn wood.
In 2000, the company was transformed into a limited liability company with Ing. Štefan Výbošťok Jnr. taking over the company management.
During the wood crisis, the company reduced its plants to the size of the biggest plant, number 03, in Podolínec, which was reconstructed and modernized in the course of the years 2003 and 2004.
At present the company employs 105 workers and processes 8,000 m3 of sawn softwood per month on average.
The annual turnover of the company fluctuates around the level of 520 million SKK.


History of the Podolínec Sawmill

The roots of our sawmill go right back to the end of the 19th century. The first mention of the establishment of the sawmill in Podolínec comes from the year 1890, when it was called Podolínska súkromná píla Müller a synovia (Podolínec Private Sawmill, Müller and Sons).
1890 The owner, Mr. Müller, equipped the sawmill with modern technology with regard to that period. The three sons had been assigned their tasks in the family firm. The first one dealt with the purchase of forests and round timber from the owners and urban areas, the second one dealt with sawn wood and the third one dealt with the company finances.
At the time of its biggest development, the sawmill employed approximately 180 workers.
1945 At the end of the second world war, during the withdrawal of the German army from Podolínec, the railway wagons at Podolínec station were set on fire and the fire spread to the sawmill. The sawmill was destroyed.
1947 Steam boiler room of ČKD.
1949 On the site of the original sawmill that was destroyed during the war, a new more modern sawmill was commissioned on 01/09/1949, which served its purpose until 1985 with minor adjustments.
1955 The reorganization of production plants was carried out and the Podolínec Sawmill found itself in the “Tatranské píly” (the Tatra Sawmills) group. This name was used until 1958. The production programme was extended and the secondary production was dispatching final products – containers, crates for fruits and food products, and packaging elements for white goods.
1965 The construction of parts of the break-department started, as well as of drying plants and a factory railway.
1968 In the break-department, the production of furniture blanks and floors for wagons was carried out.
1970 Production of board and scaffolding parts.
1972 Assembly of Glöckner crusher in sawmill kit (saw frame), production of containers from large-scale materials.
1975 The reconstruction of the round timber storehouse was carried out, a six-chamber drying plant was commissioned together with a narrow-gauge railway in the round timber storehouse, production of packaging elements for the companies Zetor Brno and pumps from Sigma.
1979 Production of veneer blanks, Unimo parts.
1983 Modernization of the round timber storehouse, in-built round timber sorting machine.
1985 Modernization of the sawmill department, construction of frameworks – 2 pcs R-75, in-building of new plastering guns, conveyor systems.
1996 An aggregate line for processing of thin wooden materials was commissioned.
2003 Modernization of machinery, finalization of concentration into the biggest hall –100 x 25 m – which includes COSTA ripper with sawing through up to 180 mm, KRN sawing through up to 120 mm, CANALI ribbon saw with sawing through up to 220 mm and CANALI ribbon saw with sawing through up to 190 mm.
2004 Modernization of the entire exhaustion system, cyclones, installation of a new round timber sorting machine with electric drivers, modernization of the entire round timber storehouse including electronic acceptance; modernization of the aggregate line for thin materials processing – assembly of end-butting hub....
2004 Modernization of plant buildings.
2005 Building of a new automated boiler room and heating system of the plant.
2005 Ustunkarli ripper line, building of Mühlbeck drying plants.
2006 New hall building.
2007 Assembly of new Moehringer line.
